Raise a GST invoice from Claude
Mavoin ships an MCP server, so Claude can create clients, raise invoices, generate PDFs, record payments and tell you what's outstanding — without you opening a dashboard. The tax logic never leaves Mavoin: Claude describes what you want, and Mavoin's engine decides CGST/SGST versus IGST, applies the right SAC code and place of supply, and keeps your invoice numbering consecutive the way GST requires.
Why an AI assistant can't do this on its own
Ask any assistant to “write me a GST invoice” and you get a document that looks right. That's the problem — a tax invoice has to be right, and the parts that make it right are the parts a language model has no way to know.
The tax split isn't a guess
Whether a supply attracts CGST + SGST or IGST depends on your place of business and the client's place of supply. Mavoin resolves it from your actual client record.
Numbering has to be consecutive
GST requires an unbroken invoice series. Only the system holding your invoice history knows what the next number is — Mavoin takes it, not the assistant.
FX is dated, not current
A USD invoice's rupee value depends on the rate on the invoice date. Mavoin captures it then and stores the INR equivalent in your books.
Connect it — about a minute, one time
- 1
Open Settings → Connectors in Claude
Available on Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. Click Add custom connector.
- 2
Name it Mavoin and paste the server URL
Use https://app.mavoin.com/api/mcp as the MCP server URL.
- 3
Click Add, then Connect
You'll be sent to Mavoin to sign in and Allow access. Your password is never shared with Claude — it only receives a scoped token you can revoke.
- 4
Ask Claude for an invoice
Mavoin now appears as a tool in your chats. Describe the invoice in plain English and it's raised against your real account.
MCP server URL
https://app.mavoin.com/api/mcpWhat you can ask, and what Mavoin does
You describe the invoice. Mavoin decides the compliance details.
“Create a client: Acme Inc, United States, USD.”
Client saved with USD as its billing currency, so every invoice you raise for Acme defaults to dollars.
“Raise a ₹50,000 invoice to Sharma Design in Gujarat for website design, 18% GST, and issue it.”
An intra-state supply, so Mavoin splits the tax into CGST 9% + SGST 9% rather than IGST, stamps the place of supply, and takes the next number in your series.
“Bill Acme $2,400 for the March retainer as a zero-rated export.”
A USD invoice carrying the LUT declaration and zero-rated export wording, with the INR equivalent captured at the invoice-date rate for your books.
“Make a PDF of invoice INV-0007.”
A server-generated PDF — the same document you'd download from the dashboard.
“What's outstanding, and is anything overdue?”
Outstanding and received totals consolidated in INR across every currency you bill in.
What Claude can and can't reach
- Your data stays yours. Claude only ever acts as you, on your own account — there is no shared or pooled access.
- Sign-in, not password sharing. Connecting sends you to Mavoin to sign in and allow access. Claude receives a scoped token; your password never leaves Mavoin.
- You're asked before anything leaves. Claude confirms with you before any action that emails a client.
- Disconnect anytime. Remove the connector in Claude's settings and access is revoked immediately.
Frequently asked questions
Can Claude actually create a GST-compliant invoice?
Yes — because Claude isn't the one computing the tax. Claude passes your instruction to Mavoin's MCP server, and Mavoin's invoicing engine applies GST the same way it does in the dashboard: CGST/SGST for intra-state supply, IGST for inter-state, place of supply, SAC code, and consecutive invoice numbering. You get a real tax invoice, not a language model's guess at one.
What is an MCP server?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant call a real application's functions. Mavoin's MCP server exposes invoicing actions — create client, raise invoice, generate PDF, record payment, check outstanding — so an assistant like Claude can perform them on your behalf instead of just describing how.
Which Claude plans support custom connectors?
Custom connectors are available on Claude Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise. You'll also need a Mavoin account — sign up first, then add the connector.
Is my invoicing data safe if I connect it to Claude?
Claude only ever acts as you, on your own account, using a scoped token issued through sign-in — your Mavoin password is never shared. Claude asks before anything that emails a client, and you can disconnect from Claude's connector settings at any time, which revokes access immediately.
Can I invoice foreign clients in USD, EUR or GBP this way?
Yes. Ask for an invoice in any supported currency and Mavoin raises it in that currency while keeping your books in INR, with the FX rate captured on the invoice date. Export invoices carry the zero-rated LUT declaration when you've filed one.
Does this work with other AI assistants?
MCP is an open standard, so any client that supports custom MCP servers can connect to the same endpoint. Claude is where we've tested and documented the flow end to end, so it's the setup we support today.
